A Note About Handmade

Every Sandbox piece is thrown, refined, sculpted, glazed and handled by one person. I am not a machine. You are purchasing a one-of-a-kind handmade object, therefore variations and signs of being handmade are to be expected. I hope you appreciate these small differences as much as I do! Buying handmade is not for everyone.

 Care

Hand washing is highly recommended. Items are not oven safe. Avoid pouring extremely hot liquids into a cold cup. Thermal shock can cause hairline cracks to form and can ruin your piece. I recommend rinsing your cup with warm water to prepare it for your piping hot coffee! Microwaving is not recommended for the same reason.

Packing Materials

Shipping boxes and packing paper is 100% recyclable. The packing peanuts used are biodegradable starch and can be melted in the sink and rinsed down the drain, or composted. Any non-recyclable material found in your shipment has been reused from packages I have received in the mail.

 

Shipping/ Insurance

I ship USPS Priority which is the safest / most affordable option for fragile items and is generally delivered in 2-3 days domestically (can vary during busy holiday seasons). You will receive an email notification when your item ships with tracking information. International shipping to Canada and Australia is currently available at checkout and any shipping overages are refunded after your item ships. Please email to inquire about international shipping to any other country. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer and are calculated at checkout. $50 Insurance is included with each shipment via USPS Priority Mail. If you’d like to add more insurance please email hello@sandboxceramics.com within 2 hours of your order being placed. Your tracking number can be used to file an insurance claim via the USPS website.

Theft & Lost Packages

Sandbox Ceramics is NOT responsible for lost or stolen packages after it is in the possession of USPS. No exceptions. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on tracking so you can be sure to bring it inside when it arrives. If your package is stolen from your doorstep you can file a claim using your tracking number via USPS.

Returns

If you are not satisfied with your order, I will accept returns and am happy to issue a refund upon receiving the returned product(s). Please email within 3 days of your package being marked as “delivered” to initiate a return. Customers are responsible for the cost of the return postage and necessary insurance. Please be sure to pack your items back up as securely as they were sent and relay tracking info to me as soon as possible. Items that arrive broken and without proper insurance will not be refunded. If you purchased insurance and a break occurs, you’re a-ok! Once your return arrives, I’ll inspect the item and issue a refund minus the original shipping costs. Sandbox is not responsible for lost returns. Please be sure the return address provided is correctly written and legible on your return. Email hello@sandboxceramics.com to start a return.

Damages

Every item is inspected before leaving the Sandbox studio, but accidents can happen when shipping delicate ceramics. If an item arrives damaged please send a couple detailed photos of the broken piece within 48 hours and we’ll work to find a solution and inquire about insurance claims. Please include a photo of the box it arrived in with all labels visible, and the broken piece. Sandbox Ceramics is not responsible for damages to items from everyday use.
